PreKindergarten Program

Welcome to the final year of preschool – it’s their senior year! We’re preparing them for the exciting journey ahead.

As you step into our pre-K classrooms, you’ll be greeted by a vibrant display of artwork and writing adorning the walls. Everywhere you look, you’ll find labels guiding children to connect letters with words. Additionally, you’ll notice photographs depicting the diverse families within our community, fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity.

Enhancing Cognitive Abilities and Physical Fitness

Your prekindergartener is primed for early math, science exploration, and physical activity! We focus on developing their cognitive skills for math and science concepts while ensuring they engage in at least two hours of movement daily.

Promoting Friendship and Problem-Solving Skills

Prekindergartners learn to navigate conflicts through communication, either independently or with teacher guidance. We instill values of kindness and respect by encouraging discussions about themselves and their families, fostering an understanding and appreciation of each other's differences and similarities.

Fostering Narrative Skills and Literacy Development

Children delve into storytelling with a focus on structure, from beginning to end! Writing becomes a form of self-expression, whether they're mastering their full name or starting with the first letter.

Encouraging Creative Expression through Art and Music

At this age, creativity flourishes! Children explore various art mediums to express themselves, follow multi-step instructions while moving, and engage in musical activities, inventing songs and playing instruments.

Expanding Knowledge and Skills

In our Pre-K programs, students delve into a world of exploration, collaboration, and discovery to expand their knowledge and skills.

  • Throughout the day, our teachers seize “teachable moments” to guide children in practicing essential social skills such as manners, sharing, problem-solving, and respectful expression of ideas and needs—key ingredients for success in Kindergarten.
  • Emergent language, literacy, science, and math skills take center stage in our Pre-K curriculum. With purposeful teaching methods and carefully crafted activities, our teachers ensure that students have access to developmentally appropriate learning materials and experiences that lay the foundation for success in Kindergarten and beyond.
  • Our Pre-K students also benefit from our weekly Intergenerational Program, where they engage in arts and crafts, singing, games, gardening, and shared meals with seniors at local care centers. This unique opportunity fosters meaningful interactions and learning between children and seniors.

Transitioning to Kindergarten

We understand the importance of a smooth transition to elementary school, and our staff are here to support Pre-K families every step of the way. Directors offer guidance on local schools and assist parents in preparing their child for the transition.

Transition activities are seamlessly integrated into our Pre-K curriculum. From visits to local elementary schools to interactions with current Kindergarten teachers, we ensure that children feel comfortable and prepared for the next chapter of their education. We also provide resources to help parents advocate for their child’s unique needs as they transition to elementary school.
